Buylist Recommended Tips
While this article focuses on explaining how to set Buylist rules in detail, the following list of recommended tips may help to quickly resolve any of your issues. When creating Buylist Rules, please remember our recommendations:
-
Reserve the use of Less than rules for All Games
-
When setting rules for Games or Sets, aim to use a Greater than or Greater than or Equal to rule
-
When settings rules for specific Cards, consider using the Buylist Override feature instead of the Buylist Rules
-
Remember that the general order of operations for buylist rules is as follows:
- Rules set to Cards override rules set to Sets;
- rules set to Sets override rules set to Games;
- and rules set to Games overrides rules set to All Games.
- For this reason, we suggest sticking with Less than rules for All Games and Greater than/Greater than or Equal to rules for Games, Sets, or Cards
- Some sellers might see options for buylist rules to be applied to Sealed Products. Please note that this is a visual glitch. Buylist rules cannot be set for Sealed Products, ONLY Singles
-
When applying buylist rules to the Magic: The Gathering, please note that the Special Rarity is specific to Purple Timeshifted Cards from Time Spiral Remastered ONLY
Getting Started
Buylists are an incredibly useful tool for customers to use when seeking to sell their singles to your store. By utilizing a buylist, and buylist rules, your store can establish an automatized system by which desired cards can be quickly and easily bought and added into your store's inventory. While the rules are created as to allow for quick and automatic buys, the final payment will be under review, so there will always be a chance to check the authenticity of the buylist before sending payment.
Please also note that these Buylist Rules are specific to your online store. That being said, it is generally easier and more consistent if you recommend setting up all buylists through your online store and checking them in-store. By running them all through your online buylist, you free up your employees and your physical till to handle in-store operations and allow for more time to review the online buylists. This is, of course, only a recommendation for smoothly instituting your buylist rules. We recommend doing what works best for your store.
There have been no small number of instances where employees have been fooled by cards during buylist reviews. Please always remember to carefully and thoroughly check the authenticity, rarity, and condition of your cards before sending payment
Creating New Buylist Rules
Creating a Buylist Rule is simple, though the number of options can seem overwhelming. In order to easily and efficiently move through the process of creating your Buylist Rules, please follow the steps below:
- From the BinderPOS Portal, select Online Buylist > Buylist Rules
- Find and click Create new rule in the upper right portion of the page
- Enter the rule's name in the Buylist Rule Name textbox
- Edit and customize Basic Rules
- Click Save rule
Understanding Basic Rules
When creating a new Buylist Rule, you will notice the Basic Rules section with the following categories:
- Price to apply
- Price rule to apply
- Rule to apply to Game
- Rule to apply to Set
- Rule to apply to Card
Price to apply
The number you input into the Price to apply textbox is the price point, when matched with the POS system, that the buylist rules will automatically factor against. This number works together with the Price rule to apply to bar the purchase of specific singles.
Price rule to apply
When applying prices from the previous Price to apply section, you have the option to include how the buylist rule will interact with your assigned price through the following limiters:
- Greater than
- Greater than or equal to
- Less than
- Less than or equal to
- Equal to
By choosing the price value in Price to apply and the restricting rule in Price rule to apply, you can limit certain buylist transactions from going through.
For example, if you set your Price to apply to $1USD and your Price rule to apply to Less than, the new rule you have created would bar customers from trying to include TCG singles worth less than $1USD in their online buylists
When creating a buylist rule for a certain price and over, please remember to select Greater than or equal to, as the system prefers this to simply using Greater than (plus it can help you stock up on more valuable cards)
At this time we do not recommend creating more than one less than rule per game, as the logic of the system will cause them to cancel each other out. You are free to create as many greater than and greater than or equal to rules as you want or require
Rule to apply to Game
- Magic: The Gathering
- Pokemon
- Yu-Gi-Oh
- Dragon Ball Super
- Flesh and Blood
- MetaZoo Singles
- Digimon
- One Piece
- Cardfight Vanguard
- Force of Will
- My Hero Academia
- Grand Archive
- Weiss Schwarz
- Final Fantasy
- WIXOSS
- Battle Spirits Saga
- Lorcana
- Shadowverse Evolve
While sealed products currently exist in the drop down menu, please note that these are not supported in the BinderPOS Buylist
If you want to create a rule that affects all games, remember that you can leave the drop down selection as All games
Rule to apply to Set
Here you will be able to select the set of the game selected in Rule to apply to Game that your store is interested in creating a new rule for.
If you selected any non-supported TCG in the Rule to apply to Game section, there will be no options in the drop down menu
Rule to apply to Card
Here you will be able to select the card of the set and game, chosen in the previous Rule to apply to Set and Rule to apply to Game sections, that your store is interested in creating a new rule for.
If you selected any non-supported TCG in the Rule to apply to Game section, there will be no options in the drop down menu
Additional Rules
Beneath the Basic Rules section, you will also notice three more categories for customization:
- Card Condition
- Allow the purchase of these cards from customers
- Allow the purchase of these cards when stock level is too high
Card Condition
When selecting a specific card, you must also choose the condition of the card that best fits your new rule. These conditions are, Near Mint, Lightly Played, Moderately Played, Heavily Played, and Damaged.
Please also note that you will need to customize your specific rule for each rarity; you can manage and edit each of these rules by selecting the respective rarity. You do not need to create a new rule for each rarity. You can save your parameter for all five rarities under the same rule; simply click between the rarities to view their respective restrictions
Allow the purchase of these cards from customers
Once you have decided the single(s) you wish to purchase and the condition, you can select this box. After selecting this box, you will notice several more categories pop-up on the bottom of your screen. These categories are:
- Cash buy percentage
- Store credit buy percentage
- Stock level
- Card Rarity
Cash buy percentage
This is the percentage of the card's value that you are willing to pay cash for
Store credit buy percentage
This is the percentage of the card's value that you are willing to give the customer in store credit in exchange for the card.
As a general rule of thumb, giving back a little bit more in store credit is beneficial and a nice incentive for customers to keep coming back and spending time and money in your establishment
Stock level
This is the absolute highest stock number that your store is interested in keeping for a specific card. If you set the Stock level of a single at 10, then your buylist will automatically refuse to buy that card if your store already has 10 in stock, UNLESS you have specifically selected Allow the purchase of these cards when stock level is too high.
Card Rarity
You will also notice an option for selecting the rarity of the cards highlighted in your new rule. This rarity changes based on the specific jargon of the game chosen.
For example, you will notice the option for Fabled rarity under Flesh and Blood, but not Magic: The Gathering, because Fabled does not exist in that game
Please also note that you are able to customize Cash buy percentage, Store credit buy percentage, and Stock level for each individual rarity option
Allow the purchase of these cards when stock level is too high
By selecting this option, you can allow your store to automatically include cards that may already meet the Stock level limit. This is especially useful for cards that are predicted to become popular or that tend to sell out quickly.
If your store decides to allow continued purchasing of singles, even after s tock levels have been met, you will have the option to set a separate Cash buy percentage and Store credit buy percentage for every card purchased over your Stock level
This percentage should be at lower than those you purchased before reaching your established Stock level unless planned otherwise
Creating Buylist Rules for Specific Products
It is certainly true that you have the ability to create specific buylist rules for each individual card, but this can create an incredibly cluttered list of rules AND it can be extremely time consuming. In order to streamline this process, you have the option to utilize either the Bulk Update feature or you can manually update each individual card. You can read more about this and learn how to utilize this convenient feature at How to Create Buylist Rules for Specific Products.
Buylist Rule Logic Explained
When creating multiple rules in the Buylist Rules section, it is important to understand the logic and how rules stack. As a reminder:
- Rules set to Cards override rules set to Sets;
- rules set to Sets override rules set to Games;
- and rules set to Games overrides rules set to All Games.
- For this reason, we suggest sticking with Less than rules for All Games and Greater than/Greater than or Equal to rules for Games, Sets, or Cards
Because of the way that rules override and stack over one another, it is important to remember to set only one rule with Less than (we recommend this rule being applied to All Games), while all of the subsequent rules can be set with Greater than/Greater than or Equal to. If these parameters are set, the stacked rules will not interfere with each other.
