Getting Started
This page will review and highlight getting your PAX Terminal set up and working. You will also find other information, such as needed equipment. Below, you will find categories and a step-by-step tutorial.
Necessary Equipment
Please ensure you have the following:
- Ethernet Cable that can reach your Router/Modem*
- Appropriate AC power source to plug in the PAX S300
Set-up Tutorial Steps
Connecting Your S300 to Your Network
-
Connect one end of your ethernet cable to the red pigtail on the S300. It will be the only port wide enough for an ethernet cable
-
Connect the other end to your router/modem.
Binding Your S300 to Your BinderPOS Till
-
Log into the BinderPOS Portal
-
Then go to POS Settings > PAX Terminal Settings
-
Select the Till from the dropdown you wish to bind with the terminal
-
Enter the eight digit serial number from the back of the terminal into the textbox
-
Select both Payment Terminal Enabled and Use DNS Resolver
-
Restart your PAX device by unplugging and plugging in the power cable. Wait for the device to reboot (this may take several minutes)
-
Refresh the PAX settings page and reselect the Till you selected earlier. You should now see an IP address in the second text box
-
Click on the “Test Terminal Communication” button to send a test transaction of $0.01 to the terminal (you can cancel this transaction). Once communication is verified the POS will now prompt you to complete the transaction on the pin-pad. If you need to disable integration simple uncheck the “Payment Terminal Enabled”
Troubleshooting
Common Communication Problems
-
Make sure your PC/Tablet is on the same network as the Pax Terminal. Sometimes guest Wi-Fi may block communication to network devices plugged directly into the router
-
Some ISPs have DNS providers that do not update promptly. We recommend using Google or Cloudflare DNS to ensure the devices connections settings are updated promptly. (You may need to restart your computer after making this update)
