Getting Started

The Single Product Block is a fairly straightforward block: it allows for your store to display and highlight an individual product. Despite the simplicity of its function, this block does allow for a multitude of customizability options. While this page will focus on briefly explaining the function of each, we highly recommend that you take the time to experiment with and practice using this feature so as to create blocks that perfectly fit the style and needs of your store.

Adding a Single Product Block

Before you can begin customizing this feature, you will need to add the block to your webpage. You can do this simply and quickly by following these steps:

From your myShopify home page, select Online Store > Customize
On the customization side bar on the left of the page, scroll down to Add Section
From the Add Section selection, add Single Product Block
Following the addition, scroll up and find and select the Single Product Block section to begin your customization

Customizing a Single Product Block

Once you have opened the customization tab for your Single Product Block, you will notice a large range of customizable features. These features can be divided into two broad sections: General and Trusted Image. Below you will find a brief list of the features within each section.

General:

General

Main Title

You can title your Single Product Block by inputting text into the Main Title text box. This title will appear above the product that your store will highlight.

Select Your Product

Here, you have the option to link the specific product. By clicking Select Product, you can open a search menu and directly link a specific product from your store's site. It will look something like this:

Start and End Date

Because some products being highlighted can be time sensitive affairs, you will have the ability to create both the start and end date for whichever product your store wishes to highlight. Please make sure that you are correctly inputting the date with the necessary structure: YYYY-MM-DD.

The product will automatically become visible from the start date. Likewise, it will disappear automatically once it reaches the end date. If there is no highlighted product, then this section will remain totally blank - please be prepared for this blank area on your store's webpage

Show Thumbnail Image

By checking this box, your store will display a thumbnail image relate to the highlighted product. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Quantity Selector

By checking this box, your store will display a selector that allows your customers to quickly adjust the number of product that they would like to add to their online cart. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Vendor

By checking this box, your store will display the vendor / supplier / creator of the product that will be highlighted. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Product Type

By checking this box, your store will display the product category for the highlighted product. For example, if the highlight product is a Pokémon card, the Product Type will be Pokémon Card. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Grading Guide

By checking this box, your store will display the card grading guide alongside the highlighted product. If the highlighted product is not a trading card, this is not needed. When customers click the Grading Guide link, a pop-up appears that informs them of the meaning behind card condition and status. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Dynamic Checkout Button

By checking this box, your store will allow for the customer to see will see their preferred payment method from those available on your store, such as PayPal or Apple Pay. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Description Tab

By checking this box, your store will allow for a tab to appear just below the product. This tab will include the product description. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Review Tab

By checking this box, your store will allow for a tab to appear just below the product. This tab will include reviews of the product given by other customers who have bought and reviewed the highlighted product. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Show Contact Form Tab

By checking this box, your store will allow for a tab to appear just below the product. This tab will include a section for contacting your store. This contact tab will be identical to other contact forms found on your webpage. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Enabled Stock Alert

By checking this box, your store will allow for an energetic notification alerting the customer of how much of the highlighted product's stock is available. If the product is over a certain amount, as set in the Max Quantity for Stock Alert, the Stock Alert will not be visible. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Max Quantity for Stock Alert

This sliding cline allows for your store to choose the max quantity for which the Stock Alert will function. If your highlighted product has a stock of 20, but the max quantity is set to 18, the Stock Alert will not be visible. Once stock drops to 18 or below, the Stock Alert will again be visible. We recommend adjusting this feature to fit the needs of your store.

Trusted Image

Show Trust Image

By checking this box, your store will add a specific image / icon to appear below the Add to Cart button to the right of the highlighted product. This is a handy feature to utilize if you are wanting to guarantee some features or promises to your customers, such as a Satisfaction Guaranteed of Your Money Back type promotion. We recommend viewing the product with and without this feature to find what best suits your store.

Within this section, you will notice that you have the ability to add an icon image. You have the ability to add your icon by selecting Select image. Please also be aware of the size of the image that you choose. You will notice instructions and recommendations for image size in this section. It will look something like this:

If you choose an image that is larger than the recommended size, the quality and visibility is very likely to suffer as a result. Please understand that this size recommendation is based on optimization across all potential viewing platforms (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.)

After you have chosen your image, you will notice another customization option become available: Add alt text.

Adding alt text is a good way for your to include addition descriptions that will appear just beneath your icon. You can add up to 255 characters to this alt text feature
