About Collection Lists

Simply put, your collection list is a visual means for your customer to browse through a selection of products that have been grouped into collections. The collections you choose to share can vary, though it is recommended that you use this space to highlight popular or upcoming products.

While you can display several collections in your list, each Collection List section can only display up to 12 collections. If you wish to show more, you will need to select Add section and add a second Collection List

A Products Block differs from a Collection List in presentation. While both are dependent on collections, the Products Block will display each of the products within a collection, whereas the Collection List only shows and links the collection as a whole

Organizing the Collection List

Finding and Editing Collection List

In order to find the customization screen for your store's webpage, and in order to organize your collection list, please follow these steps:

1. From your myShopify homepage, go to Online Store > Themes
2. Find and click Customize
3. You will see the customization menu on the left of your screen. Click the drop-down arrow to the left of Collection List
4. If you do not see Collection List, scroll to the bottom of the customization menu and select Add section
5. From here, find and select Collection List to add the section to your page

Adding Collections to the List

Before you begin to customize the section as a whole, you will need to begin adding the collections that you wish to display. To add your collection, please click Add Collection. At this point, there will be no titles; each time you click Add Collection, you will add an empty Collection block. To edit each collection block, please click Collection List > Collection. From here, you can can click Collection > Select Collection to choose what is displayed. Please also note an option to Create Collection if the collection you are looking for have not been created yet.

Before you add your collection lists to your store's homepage, please make sure that you can create and add collections.

Organizing Collection Order

After you have finished adding all of your collections, you can adjust the order that the collections are shown in (from left to right) by dragging and reordering them using the 6 dot symbol to the right of the collections. You can see this symbol here:

Customizing Collection List Presentation

After you have finished adding and organizing your collections, the last step to consider is how you wish to present your collections. In order to do this, please click on Collection List. Here you will see two final customization options: Heading and Collection Per Row.

Heading

This will be the title that you use to distinguish your collections. Because this title is wholly customizable, we recommend that you take advantage of the naming conventions that arise from the culture and feel of your store.

Collection Per Row

This is a means of organizing your collections. If you have added twelve collections and wish to display 4 collections per row, you will have 3 rows of 4 collections (3x4=12). The way that you organize and divide your collections can be utilized to highlight collection similarity, genre, style, etc.
