About the Footer

 

The Footer is an excellent tool for closing your website's homepage. This section, at the very bottom of the page, is where your customers can find extra information and links. This is where customers can easily find the location and contact information for the store, the payment methods accepted at the store, and subscribe to the store's newsletter, among other things. There are many customizable options and possibilities when it comes to utilizing and customize your website's footer.

 

Organizing the Footer

 

In order to find and customize your webpage's footer, please follow these steps:

  1. From your myShopify homepage, go to Online Store > Themes
  2. Find and click Customize
  3. You will see the customization menu on the left of your screen. Click Footer

 

Once you have opened the customization page for your site's footer, you will notice the seven categories for customization: Background Image, Store Information Setting, Your Account Setting, Our Company Setting, Store Hours Setting, Newsletter Setting, and Payment Setting.

 

Each of these categories holds different options for customization. We recommend you work through each as a store to craft a footer that fits the purposes of your store.

 

Background Image

The first customizable section of your footer is the Background Image.  This image will serve as the back setting for all of the information given in your footer. Because of this, please remember to choose an image that will contrast the information and not accidentally cloud of hide any of it. Please also be aware that the image you choose will stretch across the width of the screen. 

 

In order to add a background image to your footer, please click Select Image and choose the image that best fits your footer. Because of its banner-like length, we recommend that you pay close attention to the recommended image size given. That recommended size will look something like this:

Please note that the recommended size is the optimal size for your image to clearly be displayed across different devices. If your image is a different size, it may not be displayed clearly

 

Store Information Setting

The information posted in this section is helpful for customers who are wanting to visit your store or contact your store. Here you will find options for: Store Logo, Show Address, Show Contact, Show Email ID.

 

Store Logo

You can post your store logo, or any other logo here by clicking Select Image and choosing the image your store wants to display. Please be aware that this logo also has a recommended image size. It will look something like this:

 

Show

There are three more options to show different information by Toggling On/Off each section. You can show your address to allow customers to more easily find your store and show your Email ID/ Contact information to allow for customers to contact you or your staff if need be. You also have the option to keep these set to Off

 

Your Account Setting & Our Company Setting

This section serves as a menu for the customer to quickly travel your store's website and their own account information. There are only two options for customization here: Title and Footer Link

 

Title

You are free to rename or customize the name of this section. We recommend you choose something that matches the culture and environment that your store offers.

 

Footer Link

These sections are focused on linking the customers account to a set menu (Your Account Setting) and linking important pages from your store (Our Company Setting). To link a menu, click Select Menu and choose the menu options that you want to set in the Account Settings of your Footer. If you have not already, consider creating menus to link to your page.

 

If no menu is chosen for Your Account Setting or Our Company Setting, these sections will not be visible or available for customers to interact with

 

Store Hours Setting

This section focuses on detailing the hours that your store will be open and when customers are able to visit. Here you will find three sections: Show Store Hours, Title, and Information

 

Show Store Hours

This section give you the option to Toggle On/Off the Store Hours section in your footer. If set to On, you will be able to set the hours and give additional information. If set to Off, this entire section will be removed and unavailable.

 

Title

You are free to rename or customize the name of this section. We recommend you choose something that matches the culture and environment that your store offers.

 

Information

In this section, you will find a text box where you can input all of the information around your store's hours and opening/closing times. Please note that you are able to format the text here to highlight changes or more important information. It is also something that is very quickly and easily customizable in the event that hours change.

 

Newsletter Setting

This section focuses on highlighting and sharing a newsletter or other information your store is wanting to share. Here you will find three sections: Show Newsletter, Title, and Description

 

Show Newsletter

This section give you the option to Toggle On/Off the Newsletter section in your footer. If set to On, you will be able to edit an announcement and give additional information. If set to Off, this entire section will be removed and unavailable.

 

Title

You are free to rename or customize the name of this section. We recommend you choose something that matches the culture and environment that your store offers.

 

Description

In this section, you will find a text box where you can input all of the information around your store's newsletter and announcement. Please note that you are able to format the text here to highlight changes or more important information. It is also something that is very quickly and easily customizable if needed.

 

Payment Setting

The Payment Setting section of your footer allows for you to advertise to your customers what payment methods are accepted at your store. In this section you will have the option to Toggle On/Off this entire section under Show Payment Block. If you choose to select On, you have the option to Toggle On/Off each of the available payment options. Format this section according to what your store offers.

 

After you have edited the footer, you can return to the customization menu on the left side of the screen. Instead of clicking Footer, click the drop-down menu arrow to the left of the Footer. In this section, you can click Add Payment Logo to include new payment methods that aren't already available in the Footer section. When you open Add Payment Logo, you will find Payment Logo Image > Select Image to include the logo of the new payment method your store wants to include.

Please notice the recommended image size below this section. It will look something like this:

 

The recommended image size is the optimal image size in order to be clearly seen from any of the possible viewing devices (PC, smartphone, Tablet, smart fridge, etc.)
You are able to add as many new Payment Logos as your store would like to include
