The TCGplayer marketplace is open and we are proud to know that through these difficult times we help support over 2,500 local gaming stores. We encourage you to continue shopping for your favorite games — Magic, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, and more — knowing that your purchases directly help local communities across the country.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we have made changes on behalf of our employees to ensure maximum safety. First and foremost, all employees able to work remotely (Over 100 of us) are doing so to ensure that the marketplace continues to churn and we are working diligently to add on new features to enhance your buying experience.
For our fulfillment center employees who can not work remotely while TCGplayer Direct is temporarily paused, are at home with full pay and benefits while we have paused that portion of our service through April 17th at 9:00am EST.
We made this decision for our employees, their family members and the Syracuse, NY community that we love so much. By enabling our team members to stay at home, we will contribute to the overall national ‘call to action’ to flatten the curve of this virus within the state of New York, the current epicenter of the United States fight against COVID-19.
The TCGplayer leadership team thought carefully and deliberately about this decision because the safety of our community and our team is paramount.
Our employees are the lifeblood of TCGplayer and we have taken decisive actions to provide them full protection during this unprecedented time. Here are the actions we have taken in order to ensure financial stability and maximize safety for our team members who are affected by this temporary pause in Direct fulfillment services:
- All fulfillment workers not able to work remotely will remain on payroll for the next two weeks and at no time will their healthcare benefits be interrupted.
- Towards the end of the second week of this action, we will provide each fulfillment center employee a stipend equal to one week of compensation, in addition to their regular pay, as we will move affected employees into furlough at the beginning of the third week of pausing the program, so that they may also claim unemployment benefits.
- With these steps, we feel confident that we will have provided full pay and health benefits that cover the full three week period of the planned fulfillment center closure for all affected employees.
The decision to do this was easy. It's the right thing to do. In order for our company to be strong, our employees must thrive.
As mentioned, we remain open for buying and selling on the marketplace and we are continuing remote work with our administrative and technology employees. Our customer service team continues to be available here for any assistance you may need when shopping or selling within the marketplace.
