Direct Minimum Price Update FAQ
What happens if I list an item below the Direct minimum price?
The price buyers see and pay depends on whether there is matching inventory available in Direct at the time of purchase:
- If matching Direct inventory exists:
- Your listing will be displayed, added to cart, and purchased at the Direct minimum price ($0.40), even if you listed it for less. This remains true as long as Direct inventory is available.
- If Direct inventory runs out:
- Your listing will then appear at your listed price on search results and the product page.
- If a buyer already has the item in their cart, it will move from a Direct package to a non-Direct package, and the price will update from $0.40 to your listed price.
- If no Direct inventory exists when you list:
- Your listing will be displayed, added to cart, and purchased at your listed price.
- If Direct inventory is replenished before your item sells:
- Your listing will switch to a Direct package and appear at the price floor ($0.40) on search results and the product page.
- If the item is already in a buyer’s cart, it will move into a Direct package and the price will update from your listed price to $0.40.
In short, Direct inventory availability determines whether the Direct minimum price or your listed price applies, and cart pricing will update automatically if the fulfillment type changes.
How will my Direct listing appear on TCGplayer?
There is no change to Direct listing locations. Direct listings will continue to appear in the buy box and in the listing section below card details on the product page.
Will there be any impact on market reference prices?
We are actively monitoring market reference prices of low-value cards to help ensure continued accuracy and fairness, consistent with TCGplayer’s existing market price methodology.
Can I opt out of the minimum price requirement for Direct?
Sellers cannot “opt out” of the minimum price requirement while remaining in the Direct program. Sellers may choose to opt out of the Direct program by reaching out to us.
Does this change how customers use Mass Entry and/or Cart Optimizer?
Buyers will still have the option to choose between 4 carts (three optimized and their current cart). This flexibility makes it unlikely that changes in Direct inventory pricing will impact Optimizer differently than Mass Entry. Marketplace-only items are unaffected.
Where are the latest eligibility requirements to become a Direct seller?
You can check if you’re eligible for Direct on our Help Page. If you meet the criteria, follow the link and our Customer Service team will help you out.
What if I’m enrolled in Direct, but my listed card is not available in Direct? Am I still subject to the minimum price requirement?
Cards that are not available in Direct are excluded from the minimum price requirement. Your listing will reflect your original price and can continue to be sold through the standard Marketplace.
