Roca Sifter FAQ
Is the Roca Sifter portable?
The Roca Sifter is designed to be transportable to card shows and conventions. It weighs 12 pounds and is less than 14” in all dimensions. The card tower, weight, power supply, and power cord all fit inside the Roca Sifter so you can neatly pack and transport it.
What are the requirements to operate the Roca Sifter?
The Roca Sifter requires power, a network connection (ethernet or Wi-Fi), and a device that can access your TCGplayer seller account to operate the Roca Sifter.
Do I need any specific software or hardware to operate my Roca Sifter?
The Roca Sifter operates via TCGplayer’s Scan & Identify app, so you can operate the Roca Sifter from any device with access to your TCGplayer seller account. An active network connection is also required.
What games are supported by the Roca Sifter?
Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Disney Lorcana, and One Piece Card Game are currently supported.
What are the expected replaceable parts and maintenance items?
There are two sets of rollers for picking and moving cards that will be replaceable. Worn rollers will have a more difficult time picking cards. The Roca Sifter will detect when its rollers have neared their expected lifetime, send a message to Roca, and we’ll automatically ship replacement parts to the address your Roca Sifter was shipped to. You can update this address anytime directly through our Storefront. Replacing the rollers is simple and you can do it without any tools. Additionally, the scan bar can accumulate dust or other debris over time; there is a wipe included inside the Roca Sifter for you to use to clean the scan bar. All replaceable parts are included as part of your Support Plan and will be shipped free of cost.
How can I update my payment or shipping information?
You can modify your shipping information directly through our Storefront at any time. For payment related issues, please contact TCGplayer Support.
Do I have to sell on TCGplayer to use a Roca Sifter?
You must have a TCGplayer seller account in order to operate the Roca Sifter, but are not required to sell sifted cards on the platform. The Roca Sifter is operated by the Scan & Identify app within TCGplayer’s seller tools. You must use this app to configure sift and scan jobs, identify cards, stage, and push cards to inventory.
Can the Roca Sifter’s foil detection feature differentiate foil types?
No, the Roca Sifter can detect if a card has foil in it or not, but cannot detect the specific type of foil or area covered. Cards made in multiple foil types with the same artwork make identifying these cards complex. Users will be asked to specify when configuring a job which type of finish they are processing (Standard Foils, Special Foils, Holofoils, Reverse Holofoils, etc.) so the Roca Sifter can accurately match the card. Therefore, foil types should be separated manually into standard, and special foil groupings before running a job.
Can the Roca Sifter detect stamped promo cards?
Identifying the foil stamps on certain promo cards is not currently supported, however the cards may still be identified.
Can the Roca Sifter detect counterfeit cards?
No.
Can the Roca Sifter handle toploaded cards?
No.
Can the Roca Sifter identify double-sided or face-down cards?
No. Face down cards can not be identified. Most double-sided cards can be identified by either face since the reverse side is specific to that product, but cards with multiple reverse faces, such as tokens, may be identified incorrectly.
